UPSC Civil Services Examination syllabus
UPSC Civil services examination which are also known as Indian Administrative services (IAS) examination are conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). There are three phases in the examination,
- Preliminary examination
- Main examination
- Interview
Preliminary Examination
The preliminary examination which is also known as the CSAT exam is an Aptitude test consists of various general knowledge and logical reasoning based objective questions. The prelims has two papers which have 200 marks each. So the total marks will be 400. The Preliminary exam is meant as a screening process for selecting candidates for Main examination.

Paper- I :
The first paper of the preliminary examination will consist of questions about current affairs, Political history, Economics and Governance of India.
Paper II :
The paper II consists of questions to check the inter personnel skills, Comprehension, Basic Numeracy, Decision making and problem solving skill of the candidates.

The main examination tests the academic knowledge and understanding of the candidates. There are 9 papers in main examination and among the 9 papers there are two language papers which are considered as qualifying papers. Even Though the candidates have to pass this papers their score will not be considered for the total score of test.

Interview / Personality Test
The students who have passed the main examination will be called for the Interview and the interview will be a personify test. The sores for interview will be 275 marks and the questions and interview will be based on the panel and the find selection also lies in the hands of selection comity.
