The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education is one of the major boards of India. The Board conducts the examinations twice every year.

In the main examination, as many as 14 Lakh students appear for HSC while around 17 Lakh students appear for SSC. In the entire state, there are about 21000 schools (SSC) and 7000 (HSC) Higher Sec. Schools / Jr. colleges.
