Gauhati University was established in 1948 by the government of Assam in Gauhati to provide higher education in under graduate and post graduate disciplines in various fields of study like Arts, Science, Technology, Commerce, Law, Finance and Management, Fine Arts. The university also has over 360 affiliated colleges in various districts of Assam. The university has been recognized by the University Grants Commission of the India and it has been accredited with ‘B’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
